Welcome to ENG4U!
This course emphasizes literacy, communication, writing skills, as well as critical and creative thinking skills necessary for success in academic and daily life. Students will analyze a variety of informational, graphic, media, and literary works, and create oral, written, and media texts in a variety of forms for practical and academic purposes. An important focus will be on using language with precision and clarity and developing greater control in writing. The course is intended to prepare students for university.
Class texts will include Arthur Miller's The Crucible and Richard Wagamese's Indian Horse.

Grade 12 English (ENG4U) emphasizes the consolidation of literacy, communication and critical and creative thinking skills necessary for success in further academic life and beyond. Students will read a variety of texts including a play, novel, essay as well as examine bias in media. Writing will include shorter and longer pieces, including an essay and students will speak in the form of a seminar and presentation.
Grade 11 ENG3U is a prerequisite.
